I tried to find my way round the Virgin Medfia web page today. Crazy!
I clicked on a link that said "Speed test" and it said my broadbanc
speed was "between Mbps and Mbps" No numbers included!
Then it asked me to sign up for broadbaband!
Eventually I had to phone in my billing enquiry. I wanted to do away
with paper bills and just have ebilling.
A guy (in India?) told me I get a £1.50 reduction for requesting my
paper bill in large print, because I am visually impaired!

Hi Pam,

I gave up on their website long before I left. If you want to do a speed
test try www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk/ or www.speedtest.net

Nice that they give a large print bill and a reduction.

Cheers,

Not much sad to say, still doing a bit of coding, a bit of hosting.
Hoping to get back into my old love of video production.

Films, weddings, or music video? I don't do any coding at all anymore, I
miss what little i used to do....I do more security now. For now, anyway.

Not keen on weddings. Done loads in the past, they are really boring.
I want to do short films for the web. And maybe some music video too.

Trouble is I can't film and play at the same time, unless it's with a
camera on a stick.

Nice. I've taken up a little bass myself. Not hard after playing guitar
for so many years. Bought a '74 Fender P-Bass in metallic blue, chopped
the pickups out and replaced them with basslines, and swapped the pick
guard out for a mirror the same color as the body.

I'm no virtuozzo, but I can "hang" lol!! You really need to get an
upright for that kind of music though, that would be awesome. Looks like
you were having a lot of fun. Good stuff Geoff :)

Hope you kept the original bits or you'll lose a shedload of value.

I'm lazy, the jazz is so much easier to play. There is precedent for
electric bass in bluegrass (Hot Rize, for instance) but it
occasionally offends the musical snobs and purists.

However I've just been given a double bass so I'll see how I get on.

I did, but I don't think a 70's is worth much here.......post-CBS or pre-Fender
buy-back products aren't as collectable over here. They're seen as being not
genuine "Fender" products by the purists.

That being said, there might be a business idea here - but cheap Fenders from
the USA and sell them in the UK.mainland Europe. Everywhere, except for Greece,
lol!

True. A box and 4 strings works for Bluegrass too ;)

Now playing a double bass would definitely be a feather in your cap. You could
also do Rockabilly/Psychobilly along the lines of

A few groups still have some traffic. Since I moved to BT I frequent
their newsgroups and, while not busy, some carry a steady trickle of
messages. And uk.comp.sys.mac is quite lively.
